Mukhtasar Al-Akhdari FÎ Al-'Ibâdât, Prayer according to the Malikite rite
The author of the famous mukhtasar is the Maliki jurist Abû Zayd ‘Abd Ar-Rahmân Ibn Muhammad Al-Akhdari. The author of Shjarat an-Nûr said about him: “He is the jurist, the scholar, the sheikh, the pious, the being of spiritual realization, the insightful, the gifted in science. He has famous writings and memorable miracles to his credit. » Ismâ‘îl Bâshâ reports, in his îdâh al-maknûn, according to the author of the ta‘rîf al-Khalaf bi-rijâli as-Salaf: “He is a virtuous, ascetic and scrupulous scholar. He is very learned in both ma‘qûl (rational) and manqûl (traditional). His works were very well received by both novices and educated people. » His mukhtasar (the abridged), better known under the name of mukhtasar al-Akhdari, essentially deals with the rules inherent to prayer according to the Maliki rite. It is an eminent work that is studied in countries which are of Maliki obedience or even in countries where Muslims are a minority.
